The COAA National Board of Directors has determined that the establishment of COAA Local Chapters is a vital and necessary part of providing Owners and Developers with a local forum to express and share their Owner's voice.

Benefits:

  • Exchange information with other local members on current issues affecting the construction industry in your area.
  • Network with local peers involved in the construction industry.
  • Participate in "grass roots" responses to proposed state and local legislation impacting the construction industry in your local area.
  • Receive training and education on current construction practices, techniques and methods.
  • Meet and discuss common concerns with other Owners and Developers in your local area.
  • Link with COAA and other national sources of information on key construction issues.
  • Help formulate COAA's national policies through representation on COAA's national Board of Directors.

Start A Local Chapter In ThreeSimple Steps

  1. Identify four or more fellow COAA members within your State or region that share your commitment to the Construction Owner profession. Have each do one of the following:
    1. Arrange an interesting program and speaker(s).
    2. Select the date, location, and make catering decisions.
    3. Secure sponsors to cover costs or set appropriate registration fees.
    4. Develop invitations and mail to prospective attendees.
  2. Conduct the meeting and build interest.
    1. Have a national COAA leader discuss COAA national activities.
    2. Set frequency of meetings (most are semi-annually opposite the Spring and Fall national conferences).
    3. Add names to invite to future meetings
    4. Thank sponsors
    5. Begin cultivating a potential slate of officers.
  3. Submit for official COAA Chapter recognition with the help of the Board of Directors and the COAA national office.

There's Lots of Help 

  • Follow the successful examples of COAA's current Chapters in Arizona, Baltimore/Washington, DC, Florida, Georgia, Michigan, Idaho and Virginia.
  • The National COAA office and board member Rebecca Koller, can assist with examples, producing an invitation list, and banking.
  • Associate members are very interested in supporting COAA and often willing to contribute time, resources, and / or financial support. Include them in organizing efforts.

Albert E. Phillips Scholarship Now Being Accepted

The Construction Owners Association of America has opened its annual scholarship application process. The program awards up to two $1500 scholarships annually to students desiring to pursue a career in the design and construction industry.

This year COAA is proud to announce a few changes that will help expand the scholarship's reach. Beginning with a new deadline for application submissions. The new deadline is March 1. 

Also new this year, COAA has expanded the eligibility requirements to include students from COAA member institutions of higher education.
