Cleveland Clinic’s Family Health Center (FHC) in Lakewood, Ohio, is designed to sustain community health and wellness by providing accessible, efficient, and immediate care.  To achieve this mission, the owner coupled strong leadership with Lean principles & tools, including co-location, design assist, component teams, pull planning, A-3 problem solving, and batching.  These tools helped produce significant financial savings without compromising quality, but – as the project team will explain – they aren’t enough to deliver ultimate success.  Lean processes are especially compelling when implemented by leaders who enable the team to commit to value-added processes and who champion a project’s specific conditions of satisfaction.
