The University of Washington employed a qualifications-based selection process to select a Design/Build team for a $44M utility plant and was thrilled with the results. Completed in early 2017, the West Campus Utility Plant was delivered in a highly collaborative manner that achieved or exceeded this hands-on Owner’s goals while keeping them fully engaged. The approach to selection actually laid the groundwork for an interactive and integrated approach to aligning scope and budget, resulting in far greater value than would have been possible with traditional delivery or selection methods. See and hear tangible lessons learned that can be applied to practically any project or delivery method, including tips for managing the RFQ/RFP process, developing a two-part contract structure, and gathering meaningful stakeholder and trade partner input.
