Researchers at UNC Charlotte examined hundreds of RFP’s and selection processes and discovered some common themes amongst projects that end successfully:
A simplified selection process
Interviews focused on project execution
Use of performance metrics
Learn more about these findings and walk away with tangible suggestions that can help improve team alignment and project outcomes.

Session 3 - Workforce Development in the AEC Industry - Combatting Labor Shortage

The purpose of this presentation is to explore the current labor shortage in the AEC industry especially as it relates to the southeastern United States, the impacts this shortage is having on construction projects, and what is being done to combat this impact both in the short term (understanding cost impact and planning for this while budgeting projects, recruiting high school students) as well as with long term solutions (free tuition for certain trades, instituting construction programs in K-12 education, changing the perception/image of technical trades). The presentation will also focus on what Owners need to be doing to plan their projects accordingly based on market conditions, as well as what those in the AEC industry can do to participate in the efforts to reduce the shortage.
