Speaker Bio
Alan has focused his career on the design of cultural and educational facilities that engage users, foster interaction, and enhance communities. A member of the American Institute of Architects College of Fellows—an honor bestowed upon just 3% of architects—he has established a strong design ethic at GWWO, elevating the firm’s reputation for inspirational, evocative, and progressive design that is tailored to each project’s unique program, users, and site. His work has been featured by Architectural Record, ARCHITECT Magazine, The Architect’s Newspaper, and Building Design & Construction, among other publications, and has received accolades at the national, regional, and local levels.

Alan holds Bachelor of Architecture and Bachelor of Environmental Science degrees from Ball State University and has received the College of Architecture and Planning Alumni Society’s Award of Outstanding Achievement. A past president of AIA Baltimore, he has served on numerous design award juries and as a critic and student mentor at Morgan State University.
