Speaker Bio
Ryan Hughes is the Sustainability Manager at Structure Tone, where he drafts sustainability policies and executes best management practices on construction projects by working with the NYC operations team. His role is focused on delivering solutions to mitigate carbon emissions, improve jobsite wellness, efficiently manage water consumption and construction waste, while also influencing the building material selection process to reduce environmental impacts. He actively manages third-party green building certification projects for high-profile clients and strategically contributes to improving operational performance by aligning the construction practices with each individual owner’s sustainability agenda.

His previous experience in the green building industry spans several areas of expertise, such as energy efficiency auditing, energy benchmarking, LEED consulting and most notably managing construction teams to uphold stringent sustainability requirements both in the field and from a corporate strategic support function. He holds a MS degree in Urban Sustainability from the City College of New York (CCNY) and maintains both the LEED AP and WELL AP credentials. Ryan also spearheads a Sustainable Construction Leaders (SCL) NYC cohort of local construction professionals working towards market transformation efforts across several environmental and social sustainability topics. He embraces diversity and values the importance in balancing people, profit and planet.
