Mass Timber - exploring its innovative uses, sustainability benefits, and potential applications in design and construction.
Why should Owners consider Mass Timber Technology? This presentation will provide a broad overview of this “new” structural system, its major components, and numerous applications in modern facilities. Participants will learn about the many benefits of building with wood - from carbon sequestration to improved occupant health and comfort. Expect to learn why the University of Arkansas decided Mass Timber was the best choice for their new 700-bed living learning residence hall. The speaker will address common myths and fears surrounding mass timber as well as early concerns expressed by University stakeholders, provide cautionary tales, and best practices learned throughout design and construction.
