16th Street Mall Project Tour

Project Tour: 16th Street Reconstruction – Downtown Denver

Denver’s iconic 16th Street reopened in October 2025 after a transformative $175 million, 3.5-year reconstruction that modernized 13 blocks of the historic pedestrian and transit corridor from Market Street to Broadway.

Originally opened in 1982 as the 16th Street Mall, the corridor has long served as downtown Denver’s central spine, connecting transit, retail, restaurants, offices, and cultural destinations. The redesign reimagines the space as a vibrant, mixed-use urban main street with upgraded infrastructure, expanded pedestrian areas, outdoor seating, and new streetscape elements.

During this tour, participants will learn about the planning, design, and construction challenges involved in rebuilding one of Denver’s most important downtown corridors while maintaining access to businesses and transit.
