Designing Alignment: Integrating People, Process, and Technology in Project Delivery

If you weren’t in the room on April 7, you missed a conversation that went beyond theory and into what actually drives project success. COAA partnered with BuiltX for a session in Chicago that brought together a mix of Owners, designers, builders, and technology leaders to talk about something every project deals with: How do you actually get teams aligned? No slides full of theory … just a straightforward conversation based on real project experience.
What We Heard:
Alignment has to be intentional
It doesn’t just happen because a project kicks off
Owners influence more than they think
How success is defined early on carries through the entire job
Communication is where things break down
Not tools, not contracts. But how people actually talk and make decisions
Technology helps … but it’s not the fix
It can support alignment, but it won’t create it on its own
Bottom Line: Alignment starts and ends with people. Even with strong technology, alignment only held when people communicated clearly, trusted each other, and made decisions together.
