On June 10th, COAA’s Texas chapter came together for an in-person event held at the University of Texas Club located in Darrell K Royal stadium.

The workshop was designed to cover post-pandemic workplaces, supply chain issues that have continued post-pandemic and technology trends in the design industry.

Allison Muth (Regional Construction Manager at Medical and COAA President) kicked things off by briefly covering COAA news and recognizing event sponsors Hoar Construction, SpawGlass, CannonDesign, Vaughn Construction, DPR Construction, Projectmates, Satterfield & Pontikes Construction, Braun Intertec, HOK, Huitt-Zollars, SSR, West Mermis Construction Lawyers, and Tarkett.

Tim Jed, a supply chain expert with DPR & Julie Lucas, Director of Project Planning at UT Health – led the “Construction Supply Chain – The New Normal” discussion by sharing insights on what owners can do moving forward to help abate supply chain impacts.

Jim Jacobi then presented to the group over lunch about “The Impact of Technology on Engineering and Project Delivery.” The presentation discussed how artificial intelligence, machine learning, robotics, and virtual reality are reshaping the project delivery process.

Julie Zitter with Stantec and Stan Scott with Hill International capped off our speaker series with an interactive workshop on hybrid workplaces and best practices for the new office environment.

The event concluded with an ice cream social as a way to continue networking and beat the heat that comes along with a Texas summer.
